Going into China, I had no idea what to expect. I heard
incredible stories from my brother Tyler, Nate, Abby, and my roommate Tyler. Every
time I talked to them I heard how they had different experiences whether it was
climbing a mountain or hitting the town on a Tuesday night. I had all these
thought of how I view China, which made me think, what do the Chinese think of me. After reading China Doing Business in the Middle Kingdom
I found out that they look at westerners as competent individuals. They find
me, Joshua Donald Hazen a competent individual….. Moving on, they also find our
culture appealing. But, we do sometimes make it easy for the Chinese to have
bad impressions of us foreigners. I believe that this is caused due to the lack
of knowledge foreigners have on the Chinese. I for one have already started my quanxi connection. Many foreigners don’t
even know what quanxi is and yet I have
already tried to apply it to my fellow class mates. We practice quanxi by trading off meals, paying for
the taxi, or buying a Panda. Ok, that last one was false, but you get my idea. Here
is to building my quanxi connection.
